My full name is Gabriela Nicolette Rosamond Garcia.
I'm an actor... and I have two degrees to prove it.
I completed my BFA in Acting from AMDA: College & Conservatory of the Performing Arts in two years, four months.
In the spring of 2016, I graduated with my MFA in Acting from the University of Southern California. Fight On!
Here’s my “I-moved-to-LA-to-pursue-my-dreams-of-becoming-an-Actor” story: (please read in a “In A World…” voice. k, thanks.)
After spending seventeen years of human existence convinced she was meant to be a behavioral analyst for the FBI, Gabi was suddenly overcome with immense clarity; she didn't need to actually BE Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds, she could just PRETEND. Leaving behind her small-town life, she transferred schools senior year to Beverly Hills High School (can we say, culture shock?). That year she landed the lead in a pilot and survived prom... Almost.
Cool, great. Moving on.
I’m a native California girl. I grew up in the Mojave Desert
Which was like being stuck in Donnie Darko and Breaking Bad at the same time.
I’m obsessed with every role Winona Ryder portrayed in the 90’s – THAT’S ME. I also feel a kin to Natalie Portman, Christina Ricci, Marisa Tomei, Judy Garland, Sam Shepard, Arthur Miller, Sofia Coppola, Martin Scorsese, HBO, Netflix, Jason Seagull and Amy Winehouse ... In case you needed to be anymore confused.
I love singing tunes from Broadway and the 40s, loafers, high-wasted pants, anything circa 1970s, and the idea of making the world a better place.
I did a lot of community service and volunteer work growing up – what else was there to a do in the desert?Don't answer that.
One more thing…
So, you know how people can kinda-sorta get addicted to running in 10ks? Well … I don’t know what that feels like, but I would imagine I feel similarly towards competing in pageants. Yes. Pageants. Crowns. Sparkles. Swim Suits... stay with me. I recently left my second “I will never compete in a pageant again” phase after realizing never is an obsolete, and obsoletes are for math, and I’ve hated math since the womb, so I may or may not being competing for the title of Miss California this June. And then hopefully Miss America in August. Who knows what the future has in store for me. Except Christ, He knows - Psalms 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the…” – I’m just kidding.
....like, such as....
Well, that’s it for now. Stock me by clicking the links at the bottom of this page!
With Love & Gratitude,
At the age of twelve I was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. After taking a chance on an alternative treatment I became the National Patient Advocate for ScoliosisSpecialists. My doctor and I’s efforts helped influence the medical community & FDA towards accepting alternative treatments for scoliosis.
My idea is to re-connect humanity thru the very thing that changed it - social media. How? By creating a space for people to share original content, inspired by their real life stories. So, I guess the formula goes something like this:
life + creativity = stories + art = something bigger than the self + social media = a pay-it-forward-kind-of-effect = ShareYourStory. Get it?
For almost three years I've served as a Local Representative and Junior Ambassador Mentor for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: CHLA, raising over $5,000 for the children and their needs in the last 4 years.
Currently a member of the Positive Young People Foundation’s youth council: a Los Angeles based organization whose mission is to prevent the spread of HIV among young people in America and provide assistance programs to those who are newly HIV positive.
